Writer and performer Trent Wilkie returns his sophisticated comic sensibility to Edmonton’s stages with Book On Tape. Opening Fringe Theatre Adventures’ Arts At The Barns series, Book On Tape runs October 6 – 9 and 12 – 15 in the TransAlta Arts Barns’ PCL Studio (10330 84 Avenue). Tickets are $10, available at the Fringe Theatre Box Office, (780) 429-1910 or www.fringetheatre.ca.

Performed in 70’s pulp science-fiction novel style, Book On Tape is a play about time travel, destiny and a future ruled by nerds with very stupid names. Targ Wildstar has returned to the past to ensure Jen Bennett does what she was born to do (but doesn’t know it yet). With the help of his friends Declyn Explodingmountains and N.A.D.S, Targ endeavours to put Jen on the path to save the world from an almost certain and highly implausible fate!

A multi media jaunt through the comedic senses Book On Tape is Trent Wilkie’s third full play in less than a year, (Gargamel/Aachen). From his work with Mostly Water Theatre and as a writer for CBC Radio One’s ‘The Irrelevant Show’, Wilkie has harnessed his sketch comedy sensibilities, which he mixes with modern themes and ridiculous satire to produce his latest full-length work.

Book on Tape’s runtime is 90 minutes and is recommended for mature audiences. For more information about Trent Wilkie, please visit https://thetrentwilkie.wordpress.com. For details about Arts At The Barns or Fringe Theatre Adventures, please visit www.fringetheatre.ca.
